A program that helps you become a professional bodybuilder for example, is not the same as the one you will use to help you lose weight. Being able to fit into your wedding dress will require you to embark on a fitness program different from one that can turn you into a professional athlete.

The kind of fitness goals that you have set will therefore, determine the program that you select. The higher the levels of fitness you want to achieve, the greater the intensity of the fitness programs you will have to follow.

Selecting your fitness program based on your schedule

If you have a whole year to prepare for a marathon, you can work your way gradually, to the fitness levels that will enable you to do just that. On the other hand, if your doctor tells that you will die in no time if you fail to lose weight, then your fitness schedule had better be intense!

How much time you have therefore, will determine the kind of fitness program you select. The shorter the time that you have to achieve your fitness goals, the more intense your fitness program will be. That program will determine how you live your life for the next few weeks or months. You may even have to forgo your social life for a while! On the other hand, if you want to spend more time with your loved ones, then a fitness program with a more relaxed schedule may be the best option for you.

How much money do you have to spend on getting fit? Budget limitations will have some bearing on the kind of fitness program that you can follow. A personal trainer for example, may not be the best choice if you have very little money to spend. Neither is the gym. In such a case, a fitness program that you can follow from the comfort of your own home will help you tremendously. All you have to do in such a case is to buy just the basic equipment and use fitness manuals and videos.
