Skeptics Round Table guests joined Brian and Jamie for an hour of lively (to say the least) disucssion of Kevin Trudeau/false medical claims/regulations of freedom of speech/the princile of caveat emptor, and Nancy Cartwright as Bart Simpson making robocalls in character on behalf of the Church of Scientology/copyright laws and infringements/the Disney corporation.

We also got to review an ad for Deepak Chopra's line of cutlery on sale in a magazine near you. Not sure how well they work, but quantum energies may be involved. Brian thinks the knives should come with a pyramid-based sharpener.

Our guests:

Nigel Aves (no introductions necessary) - is quite sure that starting his own church may be his easiest way to wealth and fame.

Ben Prytherch - bass player for the band Motorhome, creator of "Knowledge and Fun," which has become our theme song. Ben in is for unhampered freedoms of speech across all media.

Gary Turell - science and local news reporter with KRFC, inventor. Gary firmly believes that if people are stupid enough to part with their money for bullshit like Kevin Trudeau's books, then Trudeau deserves that money.

And why not?

No Libel Laws in Science

The use of the English libel laws to silence critical discussion of medical practice and scientific evidence discourages debate, denies the public access to the full picture and encourages use of the courts to silence critics. The British Chiropractic Association has sued Simon Singh for libel. The scientific community would have preferred that it had defended its position about chiropractic through an open discussion in the medical literature or mainstream media.
