chatGPT or Bard

AI_Test
Testing Two AIs. chatGPT verses (Googles) Bard.
I thought I would look at two AIs and see what the differences were in their responses. I was actually surprised by the results, as one did so much better than the other. But it also goes to show how untrustworthy AI really is.

I asked a simple question, who is "rational alchemy". Here are the answers from both AI Chat programs.

First the winner. Bard , even though I like the answer, it totally missed out on our YouTube postings and of course, this web site, which Google Search does know about .

BARD

Rational Alchemy is a TV show that airs on Longmont Public Media in Colorado. It is hosted by Nigel Aves and features interviews with local artists, authors, and experts on a variety of topics. The show's name is a reference to the idea that rational thought can be used to transform the world.

Here are some of the episodes that have aired so far:

"Unflubbify Your Writing, by Sara Rosinsky" (April 27, 2023)
"Three's Company!" (May 11, 2023)
"Rational Politics: Where Do You Get Your News?" (May 18, 2023)
"The Speakeasy 10th Anniversary!" (May 25, 2023)
"Amanda Maldonado, Coy Ink Studio" (June 1, 2023)
You can watch Rational Alchemy on the Longmont Public Media website or on the Longmont Public Media app.

I hope this answers your question. Let me know if you have any other questions.

ChatGPT

As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, there is no widely recognized or well-known figure or concept referred to as "rational alchemy" in mainstream academia or popular culture. Alchemy, historically, was a philosophical and proto-scientific tradition that aimed to transform base metals into noble metals like gold and discover the elixir of life. It was popular in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East during the medieval and Renaissance periods.

It's possible that "rational alchemy" could be a term or concept that has emerged or gained significance after my last update, or it could be a niche or specialized term used in a specific context or field that I'm not aware of. If it's a new term or a concept from a specialized field, I would recommend checking more recent sources or conducting an internet search for the latest information on the topic to get a better understanding.

"As of my last knowledge update in September 2021" - I'd seen this message before, but then it struck me, the results from chatGPT are now 2 years old. BUT,  it should still have been able to give me a better answer than it did because, even two years ago, we had 4 years of video interviews on YouTube and of course we had this web site.

I think it's fair to say, that the real bottom line to all this is simple. Don't put 100% trust in any answer from a AI chat program. You "might" get some of the information, or be left thinking "there is none to get"!

Having said all that, if you live outside the Colorado area you probably have no clue as to what or who "Longmont Public Media" is! Here is what Bard told me about this group.

chatGPT Response
As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, I do not have specific information about "Longmont Public Media." It's possible that this organisation has been established or gained prominence after that date, or it may be a local or niche media organisation that does not have widespread recognition.

If you are looking for information about Longmont Public Media, I would recommend checking their official website, social media profiles, or local news sources for the most up-to-date and detailed information about their mission, activities, and services.

This response from chatGPT is nonsense, as they have been operating under that banner for years and years! (well before this September 2021 date).
